What Is Jeuveau?
Manufactured by California-based company Evolus, Jeuveau is made from a purified form of botulinum toxin A –the same active ingredient used in Botox, Dysport and Xeomin. Its formula is composed of a 900 kDa protein. What differentiates Jeuveau is that it undergoes a unique purification and drying process called Hi-Pure™ technology. This technology helps preserve the botulinum toxin protein and may create better results compared to other anti-wrinkle injectables.
What Does Jeuveau Treat?
Similar to Botox, Dysport and Xeomin, Jeuveau can be injected to treat dynamic wrinkles (lines caused by regular facial expressions and movements such as laughing, smiling and frowning) found in several areas of the face and neck. Specifically, Jeuveau can be used to fix:

Q: How Does Jeuveau Work?
A: Jeuveau works by blocking signals from the nerves to the muscles that contract your skin into lines and folds. Since the injected muscle can’t contract, wrinkles will soften and relax.
Q: What Is The Jeuveau Injection Procedure Like?
A: A Jeuveau injection procedure is a “lunchtime” treatment that can be performed in 10-15 minutes. What’s more, there is also no downtime following treatment with Jeuveau.
Q: Is Jeuveau Safe?
A: Yes, Jeuveau was FDA-approved in February 2019 and has been the subject of study for several clinical trials that included over 2,100 patients. The trials proved Jeuveau’s safety and efficacy. A: Just like Botox and other neuromodulators, Jeuveau can last between 3-4 months. After your first session, a touch-up can be scheduled within a few months to keep your skin looking young and rejuvenated.
Q: What Makes Jeuveau Different From Botox?
A: Jeuveau is formulated from the prabotulinumtoxinA, which is a purified version of the Botulinum type A toxin. Based on clinical studies, Jeuveau was found to soften the appearance of frown lines, similar to Botox. It also has the same size molecules that Botox does but undergoes a different purification process. Its Hi-Pure™ technology allows the toxin to be administered easily, evenly and consistently, producing pleasing results. In addition, its vacuum drying process has been shown to better preserve the botulinum toxin protein, making it theoretically possible for Jeuveau to have better potency compared to other neuromodulators.
Q: Are There Side Effects?
A: While Jeuveau’s, Hi-Pure™ technology already minimizes potential side effects, some patients may experience bruising, redness, swelling, soreness, tenderness, itching and headaches that should go away in a few hours or days (up to 10 days). Each patient can have different side effects and you should inform your doctor if you experience unusual post-treatment results.
Q: Can I Use Jeuveau With Other Procedures?
A: Absolutely. A Jeuveau treatment can be used in tandem with other cosmetic procedures, even on the same day as your procedure. For instance, dermal filler treatments can be combined with your Jeuveau injection procedure to improve both fine lines and volume loss.
