Daxxify®

What is Daxxify?

Daxxify® belongs to a family of neuromodulators designed to smooth wrinkles for a more youthful appearance. Like Botox®, Dysport®, and Jeuveau®, Daxxify treats dynamic wrinkles caused by repeated facial movements, such as smiling, squinting, and furrowing of the brow.

Daxxify is unique because of its advanced formulation, which uses a proprietary peptide technology as a stabilizer that allows for longer-lasting results. Daxxify is FDA-approved to treat moderate to severe glabellar lines (frown lines).

What is a neuromodulator?

A neuromodulator is an injectable that utilizes a protein called botulinum toxin to restrict facial muscles from contracting. When injected into facial muscles, neuromodulators temporarily weaken those muscles to soften lines and wrinkles caused by repetitive motions like squinting, smiling, and frowning. These dynamic expressions strain the facial muscles, causing wrinkles like crow’s feet and frown lines. Neuromodulators provide a non-surgical way to address signs of aging and rejuvenate the skin.

How does Daxxify work?

Daxxify works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the injected muscle. The neuromodulator induces muscle relaxation, reducing lines and wrinkles and resulting in visibly smoother skin.

Daxxify is a brand-new neuromodulator from Revance Therapeutics, Inc., the company that introduced the RHA dermal filler line. With its advanced formulation, Daxxify treats expression lines with longer-lasting results that extend 6-9 months.

What areas can be treated with Daxxify?

Daxxify is FDA-approved to treat the glabellar lines — the vertical lines that appear on the forehead extending upward between the eyebrows. It can also be used off-label to treat other facial wrinkles, including forehead furrows, crow’s feet, bunny lines, and platysmal bands in the neck.

Since Daxxify produces longer-lasting results that cannot be reversed, it may be an ideal treatment for those who have already tried neuromodulators like Botox Cosmetic and are aware of the results they obtain from a neuromodulator.

What is a Daxxify treatment like?

Before your Daxxify procedure, you’ll have an initial consultation and evaluation with Dr. Goldberg so you can discuss your aesthetic goals and make sure you’re a suitable candidate for the treatment.

Daxxify treatment typically takes between 5 and 15 minutes to complete. Tiny needles are used for the injections, so most patients find the procedure tolerable and require no topical numbing. After the treatment, you can immediately resume your schedule.

How soon will I see my results?

You may see results as early as the day after treatment, with results continuing to improve in the following days.

Side effects are minimal and temporary, and they typically happen around the injection site. Mild swelling and bruising are common after neuromodulator injections and should last for a day or two.

How long will my results last?

Clinical trials showed that the average duration of Daxxify results was 6 months, and some patients saw improvements for up to 9 months. Daxxify is longer-lasting when compared to Botox, which lasts about 3-4 months.
