Vein Treatments
VariLite Laser Treatment for Unwanted Facial Veins
For many patients with facial veins, treatments are sought to reduce their appearance quickly and easily. Facial veins may be visible through the skin resulting in red lines and blotching appearance. VariLite laser is a precisely controlled laser, which specifically targets the red color of the veins, which avoids injury to normal skin. This laser offers clinical versatility, allowing Dr. Glenn Goldberg of Coast Dermatology and Laser Surgery Center in Laguna Beach, CA to treat a variety of vascular lesions.
It treats vessels without bruising that typically accompanies other laser treatments. Through this procedure, the laser absorbs targeted lesions or blood vessels. The unwanted blood vessels are subsequently reabsorbed by the body during healing.
Many conditions are treated with the VariLite Laser including:
- Facial Telangiectasia
- Cherry Angiomas
- Spider Angiomas
- Scar Neovascularization
- Rosacea
- Spider Veins
Dr. Goldberg will use a pen-like hand piece to direct a beam of laser light to the veins. Pain and post-laser care is minimal after the treatment. The healthy skin cells are not affected during the process, allowing for only the unwanted cells to be targeted. Normal activities can be immediately resumed with this no down time procedure.
Sclerotherapy Treatments for Leg Veins
Many individuals with spider or enlarged veins complain not only of their appearance, but also about the pain that can be associated from these vein conditions. Sclerotherapy is the most popular treatment optimized for spider and varicose veins on the legs. Through this procedure, small doses of a prescription solution are injected directly into the unwanted vein with a very fine needle. The solution irritates the vein causing it to stick together which seals off the vein. Over a period of weeks, the treated vein fades as the body absorbs it.
A treatment session generally lasts 20 to 30 minutes. Dr. Glenn Goldberg can treat numerous veins in one session at our Orange County office. Some veins may require more than one treatment, but these additional sclerotherapy treatments are usually spaced 6 weeks apart. Following treatments, exercise is often limited for a few days, but sclerotherapy is an otherwise no downtime procedure.
